Project Child Assessment Service

The Project Child Assessment Service provides child study team evaluations, individual discipline evaluations, and program/placement recommendations to preschool children from most school districts of Mercer County. Its goal is to assess skill levels, determine educational/therapeutic needs, and coordinate placement. To meet the needs of the children and their families, evaluations are conveniently scheduled during the school day in our main site located in Hamilton Township, preschool/day care settings or in families’ homes.

During the past year, the program received services from eighty child study team members and professional consultants in the following disciplines: learning disabilities specialist/consultant, psychologist, social worker, speech-language specialist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, special education teacher, regular education teacher, school nurse, neurologist, orthopedist, psychiatrist, and audiologist. During the 1999-00 school year, Project Child Assessment Service completed 1,300 evaluations and helped place 400 preschool students. In addition, approximately 250 assessments have been completed at the request of local school districts for students already enrolled in Mercer County Special Services School District.
