The Regional Day School

The Regional Day School at Hamilton serves students with behavioral disabilities, ages 5-14. An excellent student /staff ratio allows for individualization and flexibility related to each child’s individual goals. Speech and language specialists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists provide students who have these special needs with educationally related therapy to help them meet the educational goals. Specialists in physical education, art and music also serve to provide students with a more rounded educational experience.

The program to support students with behavioral disabilities is designed to meet the needs of students whose social behavior has a significant negative impact on their educational programming and achievement. Students enrolled in this program will have social skills groups as well as interpersonal skills instruction infused throughout the curriculum. Emphasis will be placed on maximum academic achievement and instruction will be based upon the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and the students’ individual goals.

The goal of the program is to help the students develop replacement behaviors that would be socially acceptable in the regular school setting while maintaining academic rigor. The small setting and intensive services provide the students with a safe and positive atmosphere.
